Chris is a partner of the law firm. His practice emphasizes insurance defense litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and general civil litigation. Chris has litigated cases in a variety of contexts, including motor vehicle accidents, farm accidents, premises liability claims, construction defect claims, general litigation, and coverage disputes. Chris has successfully tried cases to verdict throughout the State of North Dakota. He has appeared before the North Dakota Supreme Court on many occasions and has appeared before the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Chris also worked for a major insurance company as a litigation specialist overseeing construction defect claims on a nationwide basis.
Chris is licensed to practice in both North Dakota and Minnesota state courts and the federal court of North Dakota. He is past president and board member of the North Dakota Defense Lawyers Association, as well as past president of the Western Dakota Claims Adjusters Association. Chris is a member of the Big Muddy Bar Association, the State Bar Association of ND, and the North Dakota Defense Lawyers Association.
Chris was born and raised in Milnor, ND and attended Minnesota State University-Moorhead for his undergraduate studies in finance. Chris received his juris doctor with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1995. After law school, Chris served as Special Assistant Attorney General for the North Dakota Insurance Department, eventually becoming the Department’s General Counsel. After leaving the North Dakota Insurance Department, Chris spent most of the next thirteen years practicing in the areas of insurance defense litigation and insurance coverage matters.
Chris and his wife, Carrie, have two children. In his spare time, Chris likes to play basketball, golf, and read. Chris is also a past president of the Central Dakota Children’s Choir and Master of Ceremonies for the Missouri River Community Band.
